Clopay Roller Replacement: The Hollywood Owner’s Guide
Clopay roller replacement in Hollywood typically runs $110 to $220 installed, and we stock Clopay-compatible rollers on the truck for same-day service in most cases. You’ll usually find the problem the same way: a grinding noise when the door moves, a door that shudders halfway up, or a visible wobble in one wheel. The roller wears down or the bearing inside seizes, and your Clopay door starts fighting itself instead of rolling.

We’re an independent service company, not affiliated with Clopay, and we carry rollers that match the specs your door was built with. Before we quote anything, you see the failed roller. Clause 4 of The Haven Standard requires a photo of the part before a price is discussed. Name the part, quote the range, then do the work.
Which Clopay Models This Applies To
Clopay builds residential doors across several lines: the Classic series (steel, most common in Hollywood), the Gallery series, the Coachman series, the Canyon Ridge, and the Reserve Wood line. The rollers we install cover all of these. The difference that matters isn’t the series name; it’s the roller stem size and wheel diameter.
Most Clopay residential doors use 2-inch nylon rollers with a 7/16-inch stem, though some heavier doors, including double-wide and wood-look lines, use a 4-inch stem. If you still have the original packaging or the sticker on the door track, it’ll list the model. Don’t have that? We measure the roller on-site and match it. OEM Clopay rollers are fine; we also install aftermarket rollers with sealed bearings that outlast factory nylon by several years in Florida humidity.
Get this wrong and you’ll hear it immediately: the wrong stem size lets the roller twist in the hinge and chew up the hole. We check the stem fit before we install anything.
Signs Your Clopay Roller Replacement Is Failing

- Grinding or squealing when the door moves: the bearing inside the roller has lost its lubrication or the wheel is frozen and scraping the track. This is the earliest sign and the cheapest time to replace it.
- Door shudders or hops on one side: a roller with a flat spot or a seized bearing forces the panel to climb. You’ll see the door hesitate mid-cycle.
- Visible wobble in the wheel: the nylon wheel has worn unevenly, which is very common on Hollywood doors near the coast where salt air accelerates corrosion on steel components.
- Loose or rattling roller in the track: the stem has backed out of the hinge or the hinge hole is worn oversized. Ignore it and the door can leave the track.
- Black rubber or plastic dust in the track: the wheel is disintegrating. The debris also adds friction and wears the track, which turns a $160 roller job into a track repair.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Hollywood, Clopay roller replacement runs $110 to $220 installed. The jobs at the low end involve swapping two to four rollers on a standard single door. The higher end covers a full set of rollers on a double door, or rollers with upgraded sealed bearings for quieter operation.
That price includes the parts, the labor, and a written scope before anything is touched. Clause 1 of The Haven Standard means you get a flat, written price before we begin, and that number doesn’t move. “Call for a quote” is not how this works.
We also torque the door track brackets, lubricate the springs and hinges (with a low-temperature garage-door grease, not WD-40), and cycle the door five full times before we hand it back. Marcus Deller won’t close an invoice until the door has run five clean cycles with no noise.
DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check which roller is loud by watching the door with your eyes at track level while it runs, keeping your hands and tools away from anything that moves. That’s the same first step our technicians take, and it’s safe.
Replacing the roller is another matter. The bottom roller on a Clopay door is anchored to the bottom bracket, which holds significant tension against the lift cable. Releasing that bracket without releasing spring tension can send the bracket flying. We see this attempted every few months in Hollywood, and it usually ends with us fixing both the roller and the cable system. If the door has tension springs or you’re not certain the spring is in a safe, relaxed position, call us at (754) 465-7645. We’ll show you the failed roller and the flat price before any work begins.
FAQs
Factory nylon Clopay rollers generally last 7 to 10 years in Hollywood’s humidity, but sealed-bearing rollers typically run 12 to 15 years. Coastal salt air shortens that further. If your door dates from before 2015 and still runs on original rollers, you’re near the end of service life. Call (754) 465-7645 for an inspection.
No. The wheel and bearing are one sealed unit; there is no repacking or rebuilding a nylon roller once it’s worn or seized. Replacement is the only repair, and it’s also the cheapest option.
Most roller replacements take 45 to 75 minutes. A full set on a double door with track realignment can push into two hours. We carry the parts on the truck, so a morning call is a same-day fix in nearly every Hollywood neighborhood.
Yes. Our trucks carry 2-inch and 4-inch stem rollers in both nylon and sealed-bearing versions. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie if the opener is involved.
